Hair Colour Ratios

Henna has a natural red dye. Indigo has a natural blue dye. Senna has a natural yellow dye.

Henna – Indigo mix gives shades of brown to black.

Henna – Senna mix gives shades of red.

 

If your brown-black hair is grey, mixing dyes will give the following colours:

2/3 Henna & 1/3 Indigo

Light Brown

½ Henna & ½ Indigo

Mid Brown

1/3 Henna & 2/3 Indigo

Darker Brown

Henna first, wash out & then apply Indigo

Black

1 tbsp Amla Powder per 50gms of henna, will give a slight ash tone to the red in the henna.

 

If you have grey hair, mixing dyes will give the following colours:

Henna

Coppery red

½ Henna & ½ Cassia

Coppery gold

2/3 Henna & 1/3 Indigo

Light Brown

½ Henna & ½ Indigo

Medium Brown

2/3 Indigo & 1/3 Henna

Dark Brown

Henna first, wash out & then apply Indigo

Black

 

If your red hair is grey, mixing dyes will give the following colours:

1/2 Henna & ½ Senna

Warm Red

2/3 Henna & 1/3 Indigo

Reddish brown

½ Henna & ½ Indigo

Brownish red

1/3 henna & 2/3 Indigo

Brown

Henna first, wash out & then apply Indigo

Black

 

If your blonde hair is grey, mixing dyes will give the following colours:

Cassia

Yellow highlights

Henna

Red

1/2 Henna & ½ Senna

Copper Red

2/3 Henna & 1/3 Indigo

Light Brown

1/2 Henna &  ½ Indigo

Mid Brown

2/3 Indigo & 1/3 Henna

Dark Brown

Henna first, wash out & then apply Indigo
