Henna is a natural hair dye which contains a red-orange pigment called lawsone. For the natural colour to be released it needs to be mixed in an acidic medium and left to rest for at least for 6 hours. Henna dye works by binding with the keratin in the hair. As the henna dye bonds with hair, it does not easily fade or change colour. With every application the henna dye coats the earlier colour, thereby changing the depth of the colour, giving your hair a deeper richer tone.
Henna is a long lasting natural hair dye. If you henna your hair only once, it may lighten only a few shades from its peak color. To strip the reddish-orange color of henna off your hair, you will have to get it done chemically or just let your hair grow out.
If you have natural dark coloured hair, Henna dye will combine with your natural hair colour to provide red highlights. Pure henna powder will not give other shades. There is no such thing as natural brown henna or blonde henna. Blonde, Brown, Mahogany or Auburn henna are pre-mixes and is not 100% henna powder.
Our Henna powder is organic, pure and has no additives, PPD, synthetic dyes or metallic salts.
Henna can be combined with Indigo or Senna to get different shades.

Indigo is a leaf powder that has a natural blue dye, so do not use indigo dye directly on grey hair, unless you want bluish-green colour. However, when Indigo is mixed with Henna, you can get different shades ranging from mid-brown to black.
Indigo is a much less stable dye than henna and releases dye much more quickly than henna. Therefore the indigo paste should be mixed just before applying to the hair.
Sometimes Indigo is sold as black henna. If the product is a bright green powder then it is most probably natural Indigo powder. If the colour varies from brown to black, then it is definitely not pure Indigo powder and has additives.

Amla, a small berry that is sun-dried and powdered, is an excellent conditioning herb and has been used in South Asia for centuries. Regular use provides nourishment to hair and keeps it glossy and silky. Amla is also an excellent exfoliant as it contains high levels of ascorbic acid which break up the top layer of dead skin cells.
As a conditioner: After shampooing hair, mix some Amla powder with water to form a paste and then smooth over hair. Rinse well. For deep conditioning, leave on for about 5 minutes before rinsing.
For brunette tones: Mix Amla powder with Henna & Indigo mix to make a deeper brunette color when dyeing grey hair.
As an exfoliant: Amla is a natural and excellent exfoliant and astringent scrub. Mix a spoonful of Amla powder and enough warm water to make a thick paste. Scrub on face or body and rinse.

Cassia Angustifolia also called Senna gives a golden yellow highlight to grey or pale blonde hair. This is due to the presence of chrysophanic acid, a substance also found in rhubarb root, which is used to tint grey hair yellow. Senna will not colour dark hair, blonde. It will make bleached, damaged blonde hair silky and restore a golden color to dull or graying blonde hair.
When Senna is mixed with henna, the vibrancy of the red obtained from henna is reduced. Mix senna and henna to make shades of blonde, strawberry blonde and coppery red.
Our Senna powder is organic, pure and has no additives, PPD, synthetic dyes or metallic salts.

This beautiful shampoo bar is hand crafted using cold pressed, extra virgin oils and infused with nourishing organic herbs. This is a very mild shampoo made with pure plant oils and is an excellent alternative to harsh chemical shampoos. When using our plant based dyes, the shampoo bar will not strip the natural colour as fast as a chemical shampoo.
Suitable for all hair types.
Care of your bar: A shampoo bar if stored to air and dry, will last much longer than liquid.
NOTE: If you have been using commercial shampoos your hair may go through a kind of detox phase. It will take approximately 5 washes before your hair adjusts.
Simple Vinegar Rinse: Using a vinegar rinse after using a shampoo bar will give your hair shine and makes it silky soft. Mix 2 tbsps of Apple Cider vinegar (white vinegar will also work) in 2C of water & rinse hair. Experiment to find a dilution that suits your hair (use less vinegar for dry hair and more for oily hair). Rinse off or leave the rinse on your hair. The vinegar rinse helps restore the natural pH balance of the hair.
Each shampoo bar is handmade, so variations in colour & pattern may occur from batch to batch. Photographs may not accurately represent colour. All soaps are hand cut and on average weigh around 90 gms.
